For what it's worth, Ben Foster was injured during the warm-up, so for any transaction to take place, it would've had to have been done pretty quickly...that's not like Arsenal at all.
Podolski wouldn't necessarily agree with that. :P

I like the common wood pigeon, but I hate these nasty, half-rotten rats with wings that we get in London. I don't understand how they've managed to turn themselves into such putrid looking creatures, it's like they're loofahs for tramps.

Edit: LOL @ My +4 badge. Looks neat.

To be fair Rafa is the only one of those we should be looking anywhere near.  When there's names like AVB, Klopp, Bielsa, Blanc, Girard, Guidolin, Löw, Favre, De Boer, Enrique, Capello and Benítez out there why should we be looking at Rodgers, Lambert and Martinez.

Agreed, I don't think Liverpool and Aston Villa are in direct competition for managers due to club size and stature, but perhaps I'm wrong. Liverpool need to spend big on a top name, these days managers are like players. Regarding Dalglish's sacking, it's not a big shock, but I'm still a little surprise. In my opinion, though, it's a good decision, could even have come sooner, but I suppose the club won the League Cup and got to an F.A. Cup final, which a new manager mid-season may not have achieved.

In Topic: What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

Expectations for next season: Usmanov makes us an offer we can't refuse. Expectations for the season after that: One or two trophies; perhaps even a shot at the title.

While I agree with Culann, and COYS, that we're in a similar position to Liverpool and Tottenham these days, what sets us apart from them is this stadium, that our struggles with it is not just a burden, but it could also be what saves us. Taking that step from Highbury to the Emirates was ambitious, probably too much of a risk, but it's given us two wealthy billionaires interested in taking over this club. Clearly, they both saw Arsenal's strategy as the most ambitious, the most lucrative, the most exciting. Keeping hold of Wenger is another crucial component in the club's long term ambitions as well, because without him, without the safety net of billions of pounds already in place, like Manchester City's fortunes, like Manchester United's 19 titles, we'd plummet, so I think having the manager on board is a big part of these plans.
