One of the key puzzles in our system. His energy, speed and skill are astonishing for a right back and he gives us a whole other dimension in our game, because of his ability to dominate a right flank all by himself. Only Maicon can battle with him for the award of World's best RB.

The beast is out for three weeks according to Sport.

Hopefully Puyi will do a good job covering up for him, and hopefully Alves will recover as soon as possible.

We're up all night to get lucky

That's the early word but he'll get his tests done tomorrow to verify the extent of it...3 weeks is the optimistic estimate, IMHO...It can last longer, up to 8 weeks, depending on the extent of it...He's a helluva an athlete so perhaps his recovery will go quicker, regardless

Im sure Sagna would have a lot to say about that.

Sagna is better suited to the EPL in the sense he can make better use of his physicality to help his defending. Nevertheless, I've seen Sagna give up some really stupid tackles and in my view he hasn't really hit the heights he reached when Arsenal were on a roll in 07/08. I say that because Alves gets criticized for giving up rash tackles but his defending is definitely improving. Their skills going forward are a no contest in favor of Alves. Sagna can't run a flank on his own, which Dani is certainly capable of.

Dani being out for 3 weeks is a major blow for us. Hopefully Puyol will be able to cover well in his absence and Chygrynskiy can come into the team quickly to relieve Marquez or Pique, whoever needs the rest.

I think it's good for the team to battle through some adversity early on in the season, so that they have to raise their games and make up for the absence of Dani. It'll only bring the team more together knowing that they have to work harder for each other with Dani missing.

Don't forget that Maicon had to battle with Abe (and Keita) though

Very good game from him indeed. Showed the entire world why he's better than Maicon and the best at what he does from right-back.
