Should he start again at CB against Almeria, or do we play Pique there, and risk that Pique's suspended for the Clasico?

We can't risk losing Piqué for the Clasico IMO, he's just too important no matter his average form so far.

As Vik said, Pique's average form > Abidal any day of the week. Quite simply, we need Pique to do his job on Ronaldo and probably take care of Ozil too if we want to win the Clasico. Against Almeria, I don't think we'll face wave after wave of attacking plays, so Abidal should be able to have a reasonably easy game.

Guardiola: "Abidal as centre-back? He was spectacular. If he's focused, he can play there at a very high level." #fcblive

Guardiola: "In the pre-season we already took into account Abidal can play as centre-back. That's why we didn't sign anyone." #fcblive

Given how the game looked like tonight, im glad Pep went with Abe and not with Masch/Busi or any of the youngsters together with Puyi. He did an adequate job and looked secure at most times, imo, during the full 90 minutes. Im with the same opinion as Viki and Adam, and  I'd play the same back-four against Almeria and save Piqué for the clasico.

We're up all night to get lucky

Abe not in the squad for Almeria, that's a huge blow; 'cause now undoubtedly Pique will play at CB and possibly might miss the Clasico.  How come he's not in the match-squad, is he sick or sth?

---

If I were Pep, I wouldn't risk Pique, and put Busquets at CB (with Mascherano at DM).  Or would you rather play Fontas?

Very weird, apparently Abe won't travel to Almeria "por decision tecnica".  Did he do sth wrong (like return too late from the international game with France or so)?

Apparently Abe has a minor injury, and that's why he's not travelling to Almeria.

I'd play Fontas at CB, really. We MUST NOT risk Piqué unless there are absolutely no other means, you just know he will pick up a yellow.

Exactly; it's almost inevitable that he'll NOT pick up a yellow.

Regardless, I still think Pep will put him in the starting line-up; considering Pep's whole "game-by-game" philosophy.

He had a very good game today; brilliant in defence and offensively he wasn't too shabby either.  Almost scored his first goal for Barca too :)
