There were a few albums released in twenty-eleven, among them artists you might have heard of including Girls, St. Vincent, Bon Iver, Real Estate, Coldplay, The Strokes, Radiohead, Iron & Wine, Cults, The Vaccines, Fleet Foxes, and many others that I can't be bothered listing in my apathy.

Some good shit there, right? Right. So, short of umm-ing and ahh-ing over your top ten, we'll keep this simple: what were your top five records of the year? And what were your top five singles? Also, in the interest of being progressive, who do you feel will come to the fore in twenty-twelve, right before the Mayan calender brings us all to our knees? We've got nothing else to do in the lull of the last week of the year -- don't pretend you aren't phoning this one in like the rest of us -- so let's chit-chat amicably about music for a while.

Off the top of my head:

1. The Mountain Goats - All Eternals Deck
2. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Belong
3. The Decemberists - The King is Dead
4. Bon Iver - Bon Iver
5. Architecture in Helsinki - Moment Bends

Honourable mentions: The Jezabels, Noah and the Whale, Fleet Foxes.

Singles are too difficult so I won't bother.

I haven't listened to much of anything in 2011, I have been waiting for a thread like this to make amends. So both of you post your top 10 albums.

Didn't like the latest real estate album as much as their debut, it's real is a catchy little jingle though. I loved SBTRKT self titled debut, probably my favourite release along with the King of Limbs which I certainly wouldn't have said soon after its release. Disappointment of the year for me is easily The Strokes along with TV on the radio.

Forgot to mention Metronomy! Great release, The Look surely being one of the singles of the year?

+1 Lykke Li. The album flows well and it's so catchy. I love "Love out of Lust". I don't feel the urge to skip any songs while listening to it while the same can't really be said about Angles (i'm sorry but it's true). The other album I would put as my top is Bon Iver but that's no surprise considering the amount of attention it got.

Destroyer Kaputt
PJ Harvey Let England Shake
St. Vincent Strange Mercy
Yuck Yuck
Radiohead King of Limbs

Songs!
Panda Bear Alsatian Darn
Youth Lagoon Seventeen
Cloud Nothings Not Important
St. Vincent Year of the Tiger
Bill Callahan America!

2012!
Sleigh Bells Reign of Terror
Cloud Nothings Attack on Memory

All my listing were things I felt was appropriate for this forum, and is more biased towards rock than anything else. Otherwise my songs list would've been a Lana Del List.
