Over the summer, money has spend to overthrow the new champions though. PSV have brought in Mertens, Strootman and Matavz and Twente have acquired the services of Co Adriaanse and Fer. AZ and Feyenoord have built on their sides, matching them up with Groningen and Heerenveen. At the bottom of the table, things remain close as ever as RKC have strengthened themselves whilst Excelsior made do without Pastoor and Fernandez. On top of that, Van Marwijk's boys are dominating the world internationally. The future is bright, the future is Oranje!

Those noisy neigbours have just got louder, as Man City's financial clout takes them further up the Premier League ladder. Alex Ferguson's United are wary of their emergence and are vying for that twentieth league title, but the competition is as fierce as ever with Chelsea hot on their heels as well. It's a big season for Arsenal who will need to respond after a number of player changes, whilst Liverpool continue to impress under their old Kop hero, Kenny. The chasing pack are all equally contested, and it's sure to be another important season for Tottenham, Everton, Aston Villa. It promises to be another season of fantastic football, controversial decisions, high intensity atmospheres and wonderful unpredictability. Just around the corner is a whole different experience in the N-Power Leagues too, which will produce another frantic race to the top. English football has it all!

French Football

Bienvenue à Ligue 1! The league has become more competitive with each passing season since the end of Olympique Lyonnais' record seven consecutive titles. Paris St-Germain have snapped up some of Europe's brightest prospects with the help of their new owners and will surely be a strong favourite for the Championship. Their Southern rivals, Olympique de Marseille, have spent modestly in comparison but they are far from being written off having been one of the top teams in France for the past few seasons. Lille will try to defend their title despite the loss of key players that brought them their success while Bordeaux will have to learn from their past failures to mount a serious challenge for a top spot. Les Bleus appear reinvigorated under Blanc and look poised to reclaim their spot amongst the European football giants as Euro 2012 qualifiers provide the first real test for the team.

German Football

We're fresh off another entertaining season of German football which saw Borussia Dortmund win the league for the first time in nearly a decade. With Germany overtaking Italy in the European coefficients providing a fourth Champions League spot for the Bundesliga, a new batch of teams will be fighting for the extra European spot. Can Dortmund keep up the level of play without Nuri Sahin and win the title again or will the distraction of the Champions League prove too much? Can Bayern win back their trophy or will they struggle to find their feet under Jupp Heynckes? Or will the likes of Schalke, Stuttgart and Werder have to ward off relegation scares once again? There really is no telling with this league, the only way to find out is to watch the season unfold with us!

Italian Football

There was no sign of a big yellow taxi, but Italian clubs have come to realise that you really don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. With high-placed finishes meaning even more now for Italy’s ambitious clubs, champions AC Milan will have to contend with a resurgent chasing pack if they have designs on retaining their title. Traditional challengers Internazionale and Juventus have bolstered their squads, as have southern giants Napoli and the born-again AS Roma. In a championship stacked with both emerging and established stars of the game, Serie A is set for a memorable 2011/2012 season.

After a disastrous season, Porto turned it around and won everything. Now with a new coach, they will attempt to replicate their success in the last term. Benfica, on the other hand, had a very disappointing season considering the very high expectations generated by their leaders, so will look to improve and win the league. Sporting have started a new project, with a new President, coach and 15 signings, and want to become title contenters again. Braga have suffered some big changes after another successful year and might go into a period of transition. There are also the Portuguese stars abroad; from 'El Especial' in José Mourinho, to one of the world's best in Cristiano Ronaldo.
